Coaching during competition Little Athletics is now permitted following the Little Athletics Victoria State Conference in 2007. However, parents should be reminded that coaching and encouragement will only be tolerated as long as it falls within the boundaries of the Coaches, Officials and Parents Codes of Conduct. In order to facilitate this at Coburg LAC, the following guidelines will be in operation for the season.

1. Only Designated Team Managers and Officials will be allowed onto the Arena during Competition. For the purposes of this guideline, the Arena will be designated as any area inside the Fence line, including the infield, the track up to and including lane 10, the area up to and including the start of the 100m and the area surrounding the two Steeplechase water jumps.
2. Designated Team Managers will be required to sign in each week. Clubs will be permitted two team managers during the season, notwithstanding that both Team Managers have signed in.
3. Designated Officials at events will be required to wear an appropriately coloured fluorescent jacket. Under no circumstances will Officials be allowed to coach an athlete whilst at an event. A Chief Official may provide an athlete with information to assist them to perform the event, including technical or safety advice.
4. In the event of a complaint arising from a breach of these guidelines, from an athlete, club or official, competition at that event will cease until a member of the Competition Panel attends and makes a decision that is final. In confidence complaints can be directed to the Competition Director for consideration by the Board of Management or the Executive.
5. A parent or official in breach of these guidelines will be asked to leave the arena immediately by a member of the Competition Panel, and if he/she refuses, the offending parent’s child will be removed from the event.
6. Parents of Under 6 and 7 athletes may be allowed on the arena to assist with On Track activities.
7. Parents of Under 7 athletes will be allowed to accompany their child to an event up to mid October, or for a new athlete, on their first competition day.
8. Parents of Under 6 athletes will be allowed to accompany their child to an event up to the Christmas break.

Parents wishing to accompany their children to events due to medical conditions, or for any other reason, should make their request to the Competition Director through their Club Team Manager and will be required to wear fluoro vests also.
