The Coburg Little Athletics Centre committee is responsible for the overall operation of the centre. However, within our centre we have the following member clubs (listed in club colours):

Coburg West

Moreland

Newlands

Pascoe Vale

St Olivers

Westbreen

Some Centres don’t have clubs, but Coburg started off in the 1960’s with a ‘club’ structure and we feel that this is an important part of our history.  It is also a good way to break down the management of parent volunteers on the day, and making sure athletes get to the right place at the right time on the day.  It's also a good way to introduce a little bit of friendly competition between the children.  Our clubs take responsibility for particular events and/or administrative duties at our centre.  Each club has its own organisational structure and committee, and its own system of awarding trophies to their member athletes. At Coburg, your main contact is with the club.

When you join Little Athletics at Coburg, you choose a club to join.  You can choose based on friends who already go to Little Athletics, because it is loosely based in an area you live in, or just because you like the colours. If you don't have a preference we will often direct you to the smaller clubs (which vary, depending on season).

All athletes must wear club designated t-shirts or singlet tops along with BLACK shorts (‘lycra’ is permitted, but basketball, ¾ length or board shorts are not permitted). No visible advertising, stripes or logos allowed. Shorts are needed because during the walk events officials must be able to see whether the knee is bent, so shorts must be at least 100mm above the knee.

One of the most important people at each club (at least during competitions) is the Team Manager.  This person is responsible for organising athletes and parents, providing current information to all athletes, and co-ordinating with the operations team of the centre.
