The Coburg Little Athletics Centre committee is responsible for the overall operation of the centre. However, within our centre we have the following member clubs (listed in club colours):

Coburg West

Moreland

Newlands

Pascoe Vale

St Olivers

Westbreen

Some Centres don’t have clubs, but Coburg started off in the 1960’s with a ‘club’ structure and we feel that this is an important part of our history.  It is also a good way to break down the management of parent volunteers on the day, and making sure athletes get to the right place at the right time on the day.  It's also a good way to introduce a little bit of friendly competition between the children.  Our clubs take responsibility for particular events and/or administrative duties at our centre.  Each club has its own organisational structure and committee, and its own system of awarding trophies to their member athletes. At Coburg, your main contact is with the club.

When you join Little Athletics at Coburg, you choose a club to join.  You can choose based on friends who already go to Little Athletics, because it is loosely based in an area you live in, or just because you like the colours. If you don't have a preference we will often direct you to the smaller clubs (which vary, depending on season).

All athletes must wear club designated t-shirts or singlet tops along with BLACK shorts (‘lycra’ is permitted, but basketball, ¾ length or board shorts are not permitted). No visible advertising, stripes or logos allowed. Shorts are needed because during the walk events officials must be able to see whether the knee is bent, so shorts must be at least 100mm above the knee.

One of the most important people at each club (at least during competitions) is the Team Manager.  This person is responsible for organising athletes and parents, providing current information to all athletes, and co-ordinating with the operations team of the centre.

The Coburg Committee is made up of parent members from our 6 clubs.  We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 7:30pm and work together as a team to bring competition to our athletes.  You can find details of each committee member on the Participate tab under Contact Details.

After the 2018 AGM, there are still some vacancies on our committee.  We encourage parents to join and assist.  We will help you and it is a great experience being a member.

St Olivers Little Athletics Club

Run, jump and throw your way to fun and fitness

Joining St Olivers Little Athletics Club is a great way to have fun, get fit and meet new friends. It is open to all children from age 5 to 15, and all children are welcome from St Olivers Primary School or from any other school.

The younger children participate in the ‘easier’ events, and as they grow older and increase their strength and coordination, they are introduced to the more ‘technical’ events.

The Club emphasises ‘fun’ and ‘friendliness’ where all children receive praise and encouragement for all their efforts. It is enjoyable and sociable for the parents also.

All results are recorded and the children only compete against themselves to better their PB’s (Personal Bests)! At end of season presentations, all children receive a certificate with their PB’s and a Trophy.

We welcome new families and all enjoy seeing our children having fun, and hope that Little Athletics shall help lead them to a healthy future.
