Competition this week is again on Friday night commencing at 6pm. Coburg West on set up.
Don't forget the Disco on Saturday night..... All Centre Championship forms should now be in for processing.
Thank you to all our Coburg families and Visitors who attended our Open Day. It was a terrific day, a bit hectic at times but good weather, good food, hundreds of PBs....and lots of smiling faces. Full results are now posted on the Results tab. If anyone has any photos that they would like to share with us, please email to
The timetable for the Coburg All Star Open Day will be posted later on today. Thank you for your patience. Please see timetable here. Note, the U13 boys will be busy at midday!! We will swap the U9G event forward and manage the boys who clash with their events.
Well done to the Coburg Athletes who represented us at Region Track & Field last weekend. Click Here for the full results or the first list of progressions to State Track & Field.
Terrific 2 days of competition at last weekend's Region Track & Field event at Whittlesea City.
Please click on this link to see many fabulous photos of our athletes in action on the Sunday.
Congratulations to all our athletes, you were awesome to watch. Thank you to our Team Managers who were there from 6 in the morning till stumps each day and a big thank you to all those parents who were so generous with their time and volunteered to officiate at more than their fair share of events.
Thank you to all the families who have entered the Coburg All Star Day Open Day. Entries close tonight and late entries will not be accepted. It will now take some time to process the entries received and to formulate a timetable so that we can eliminate as many clashes as possible. We will endeavour to have a time table available by end of February.
Training this week will include High Jump. We request parents to help set up and pack up that equipment so more time can be spent coaching.
The Family Disco has been postponed and is rescheduled for 15th MARCH due to the clubrooms being booked for another function. Sorry for the late notice.
Thank you to all families who did arrive early last week, it wasn't as hot early on as expected but we started on time and got through the whole program very well. It was great fun to finish off the morning with the Steeple event.
Coburg families must have their entry forms in this week for our All Star Day Open Day.
This week, we are raising funds for the Royal Children's Hospital - wear your favourite colour, football jumper, crazy hair do.......fairy wings....but remember to wear your TAG.
This week's track competition starts off with the 400m races, followed by 80/90/100mHurdles and finishing off with the Steeplechase events. Bring a spare pair of socks & shoes. Athletes who arrive late will miss their 400 so please arrive before 8:30am so we can start on time and be out of the venue before it gets too hot.
Congratulations to Alesi Gangi who represented us at State Multi last weekend and did very well in hot and trying conditions.
Are you interested in becoming a Starter? We need more people to assist in these positions so there is less pressure on the parents who take on this type of role. You don't need to complete the course first, in fact it is better to have some idea of the task before you do so. It is a fun role and we are happy to teach you.
A reminder to all parents and athletes that we are competing at Coburg on Saturday morning, commencing at 8:30am. It is going to be extremely hot, so we need to be even more efficient so that we can finish as quickly as possible.
A note from our Coach - Sonja Kiernan.......and this applies to Competition on the weekend too, not just training sessions.
In brief this is most important :
1. KEEP CHILDREN HYDRATED – DRINK BOTTLE ON THEM AT ALL TIMES AND MONITOR THE AMOUNT THEY ARE DRINKING
2. ITS NOT THE AMOUNT YOU DRINK JUST PRIOR TO TRAINING AND COMPETITION IT’S THE AMOUNT YOU DRINK DAYS BEFORE AS WELL
3. GOOD NUTRITION GOES HAND IN HAND WITH HYDRATION – CARBOHYDRATES ARE IMPORTANT FOR SUSTAINED ENERGY
4. BRING 2 WATER BOTTLES TO TRAINING
5. SLIP SLOP SLAP
6. WEAR COOL CLOTHING
Wishing all our members and their families a Happy New Year.
Please note that the Coburg Committee voted to change the competition programs for the final 6 weeks of competition on the calendar up until Centre Championships. Click on this link to see the events offered on each program. (This is very similar to last season's programs).
Link to the Northern Metro Region website for entry into Region Track & Field. Entries close mid-day 21st January, cost is $6 per event, draft timetables are available etc and information regarding qualifying criteria is also loaded. Athletes in the U7, 8 and 16 age groups need to contact Team Manager - Krysten Panozzo asap if they wish to enter (same closing date though, but please don't leave it till the last minute).
Also, our website has been crashing a lot lately and our IT expert, Edward is assisting us with this problem. We apologise for any inconvenience this may incur.
Competition this weekend is our Christmas breakup on Friday night commencing from 6pm at the Coburg track.
Congratulations to our 11 teams who represented us admirably last weekend at Albert Park in the State Relay Championships. One of our teams broke the previous Victorian State Record, but as they finished in 2nd place, will not be recognised for that achievement. It was a terrific day and many thanks to Craig for doing our duty for nearly the whole day - in the Recording room - he said it was "the best seat in the house" !!!
Click on this link for some great photos.
Well done boys.
